General update

Just for a change, Kyle has been sick. He started off with fever, then it turned into a cold and then he started breathing oddly. I took him to see the doctor on Wednesday and she sent us straight to the hospital. After some monitoring of his blood oxygen levels, a lot of prodding, some swabs and shaving several years off my life expectancy - we were sent home. I'm just grateful my mum was with me!

The hospital said it was a viral chest infection and that it should pass by the end of the week. The district nurse came out on Thursday to check him over and was pleased that he was improving. He seems to be on the mend now, thank goodness.

Thanks to Alix for helping to look after him on Monday afternoon and big thanks to my mum for staying with us from Monday night. She took such good care of Kyle and he loves his Nanny so much, it was a win-win situation all round. She also helped keep me sane and did a lot of housework, which was hugely appreciated!

In other news, Kyle's vocabulary is increasing rapidly. Some new words are: trolley, hands, on, off, up, down, open, close, handle, knock, happy (especially for his new cuddly Mr Happy toy which he loves), truck, bus, lorry, cheerios, toast, cheers, mess, run, story, gloves, jacket and it goes on. He mimics virtually everything we say and is soaking up information like a sponge.

He impressed the doctor on Wednesday by pointing at her ear thermometer and pointing to his ear then saying "ear". He really is starting to understand a great deal of what is going on around him and he likes to help out. Now he's figured out how to open the washing machine, I get him to help me by loading clothes into it and pushing the button. He loves helping with anything and I can tell he's very proud when I thank him and tell him he's a clever boy.

He also likes counting, he now counts to four!

We just hope that 2010 is going to be a healthier year for our clever boy.
